Inflammation: Animal Health
Inflammation in animal health is the reaction of a part of the body in response to an injury or an illness such as a bacterial infection. The classical signs of inflammation are pain, heat, redness, swelling, and loss of function. In small animals, inflammatory conditions include arthritis, as well as muscle, tendon and ligament injuries. Inflammation or pain in large animals is due to a variety of health conditions, and impacts the animals’ welfare and capabilities.
Inflammation is generally not a cause for major concern. It often occurs in warmer weather or as a result of small cuts and scrapes. If swelling occurs throughout the animal body, this may be a sign of a long-term, progressive disease, malnutrition, pregnancy or as a result of surgical procedures. In addition, pain may also have a significant impact on the animal’s welfare.
Tennant BioModulator® devices are primarily used for inflammation and pain management for animal conditions and to improve overall well-being for dogs, horses and other animals. Together with therapy application protocols and biofeedback that treats with low-level neurostimulation, the BioModulators contain special settings that offer pain relief, as well as stimulate healing.
