How Do We Actually Boost & Improve Our Immune System?
One thing to keep in mind that there is no one-step fix or “magic pill” that can do the job all on its own. Many people wonder if focusing on Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Zinc, or some combination of the three is the solution to all our immune system woes. Others believe that managing our microbiome and maintaining a healthy gut is crucial since about 70% of the immune system comes from the digestive tract.
Our bodies are complex and need a multi-pronged approach to health. We need a combination of several different vitamins to work together to collectively heal the body and maintain a strong immune system.
Vitamin D is absolutely critical, and normally one of the best sources of Vitamin D is from the sun. Our skin actually absorbs it and converts the UVB rays into calciferol, which the liver, in turn, converts to Vitamin D in the bloodstream. From there, the kidneys convert it into an active form of D3 which then goes to various organs to be utilized.
The other thing that’s unique about Vitamin D3 is that there is a Vitamin D3 receptor in the nucleus of almost every cell in the body, so if we don’t have enough levels of Vitamin D3, then it’s going to be difficult for those cells to actually perform.
The other thing that’s gotten a lot of hype lately is zinc. Well, we know that if you have zinc deficiency, it can depress the immune system, and one of the things that zinc does really well is help fight viral load.
There are “natural killer cells” that need appropriate levels of zinc to form, and simultaneously our stomach acid, which is great at fighting bacteria, needs zinc as well.
Vitamin C is also an important water-soluble antioxidant that our bodies use more often than other vitamins, so it isn’t stored like Vitamin D, A or K is. When we get sick, we need even more of it, as our body uses it to help neutralize some of the viruses that enter our system. During an infection, Vitamin C gets pulled in by white blood cells at a higher rate.
This is why it’s important to address multiple essential vitamins simultaneously because they all are needed for different functions in the body.
Can I just use the supplements that I have on my shelf?
At Tennant Products, we want you to know what’s on your label and that you’re reading the labels of your products right and knowing what type of Vitamin B, C, etc. is included. Is it ascorbic acid? Whole? Non-GMO? Does it have those essential polyphenols, bioflavonoids, and other factors that our bodies need to function? Is it synthetic or natural? We go into detail on all of these points in our other interview series (that can be found on Senergy’s blog, Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.)
In regards to what you already have at home or see at places like Costco and Amazon, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to support your microbiome? Are you trying to heal something specific, detox? If you’re not sure, speak to your healthcare practitioner for some guidance. Different supplements address different needs.
If I’ve had a virus and want to get my body back to a normal healthy state, what do I do?
There are a lot of things that actually come from having a virus, we’re talking about fatigue, shortness of breath, cough, joint pain, chest pain, any of those things that we would associate with the common cold or with the common flu, and what’s happened is that your body has just been through a battle what we have found is when the body is being attacked, then it needs to figure out how to regroup.
Several years ago I ended up with a few really nasty viruses and they ended up taking me out and what happened was that I ended up getting on a specific detox protocol to clear out all the damaged cells and reset the playing field. From there we can rebuild with appropriate nutrition and make sure we modify some lifestyle factors to support health, such as sleep hygiene, stress management, and fitness.
As Dr. Tennant teaches, our body doesn’t use damaged cells, it creates new, healthy ones. So we need to give our body everything it needs to do that. We need phospholipids and amino acids for the outside and inside of the cells, we need the vitamins and minerals for the actual metabolic processes, we need something that’s going to detox and get rid of dead cells, etc.
If the whole house has been knocked down, so to speak, you have to start by cleaning up the damage and rebuilding the foundation. With our body’s, that looks like targeted detox and nutrition, followed by voltage.
Dr. Tennant has been teaching us since day one that the body needs nutrition, detoxing, and voltage. Voltage is a key component in this and it’s not just one thing, it’s a balance of everything.
One thing that’s interesting is that when I was personally beginning my health journey, I didn’t have access to the specific Tennant devices, the only thing that I had was access to nutrition. I was focusing on trying to eat as healthy as possible, but we know that the foods that we’re eating, even if they’re organic, aren’t as nutritious as they used to be. So I focused on getting those micronutrients and trace minerals in addition to my diet. When I finally came to the clinic to get my voltage measured, it was significantly higher than I expected simply because I was so vigilant about giving myself the proper nutrition.
I think if you have the right tools and you’re focused on detoxing, supporting yourself with appropriate nutrition, and you’re limiting the number of things you put into your body which will increase the inflammation and the systemic response that your body is going to have when it gets presented with a virus, then you’re going to be in a much better state.

Where does nitric oxide come into play?
I was talking with Dr. Nathan Bryan a couple of days ago and we were discussing nitric oxide and how that actually plays a role in disease prevention. Dr. Bryan’s take is that nitric oxide is key to regulating the blood flow through all of the organs and protecting the endothelial barrier, the inside lining of our veins. It also controls the oxygen delivery in the bloodstream. Dr. Tennant always says that when your voltage drops, your oxygen drops, and so we want to make sure we have vascularized tissue. I believe it’s absolutely critical in order to maintain a healthy immune system and to really feel your best.
