The Importance of Sleep
Sleep is one of the most important factors of overall health and wellbeing. It’s the time our body needs to restore and repair itself so we can continue functioning optimally and stay healthy. A chronic lack of rest will eventually take a toll on your health, no matter how young or fit you think you are.
Insomnia may increase a person’s risk of anxiety, depression, alcohol/substance dependency, cardiovascular issues, illness, diabetes, obesity, and more.

What is insomnia?
As common and widespread as insomnia is, not many people know how to go about treating it.
Insomnia is a short-term or long-term condition that causes issues around falling and staying asleep. People may find it either difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep, or a combination of the two, and it causes immediate detrimental effects to the body and mind’s ability to function optimally.
Adults need on average between 6-8hrs of sleep, sometimes a little more or less depending on the scenario and what’s going on in a person’s life. When we do not get the proper amount of quality sleep that our bodies require, fatigue can affect all aspects of our daily activities and responsibilities.
Primary insomnia is an issue with sleep that is not directly linked to another condition or diagnosis. Oftentimes this is associated with life changes.
Secondary insomnia, or comorbid insomnia, is the result of a chronic lifestyle habit or condition such as anxiety, depression, or another diagnosis.

Do you have chronic insomnia?
Chronic insomnia is insomnia that lasts for longer than a month, and it can be caused by primary or secondary insomnia. Acute insomnia lasts a shorter length of time (usually days or weeks at most) and is more commonly caused by life events, trauma, travel, and usually resolves on its own with time.
One or two nights of inadequate sleep does not mean you necessarily have insomnia. There is no need for concern unless the issue becomes persistent and starts to affect your daily routine.
What are the symptoms of insomnia?
- Daytime exhaustion
- Anxiety & irritability
- Increased errors or mistakes throughout the day
- Fatigued after a “full” night’s sleep
- Frequently waking up during the night
- Focus & memory issues issues
- Trouble staying asleep or falling asleep
How does the BioModulator® help?

With the Tennant BioModulator®, you can reset your activated nervous system back to baseline and address insomnia right at the source.
How It Works
Our parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems are what makes up our whole autonomic nervous system. The parasympathetic system is responsible for restoring our body back to a default mode of calm composure, and the sympathetic system is in charge of our fight & flight responses.
Both play an important role in our biological functions, but in modern day society, many people are functioning primarily in Sympathetic because of the high stress lives they lead. When a person stays stuck in Sympathetic (fight or flight), it takes a tremendous toll on the body and can lead to serious health problems.
By intentionally activating the parasympathetic nervous system with BioModulator® microcurrent technology, we can signal to our body to switch out of fight or flight (stress) mode and return to a state of equilibrium and healing. This can produce feelings of relaxation in the body and mind and help you get back to sleep and stay asleep.
