What is Dr. Tennant’s Digestive Enzymes Formula?

Dr. Tennant’s Digestive Enzymes Formula contains 27 powerful, high-potency digestive enzymes and digestive support ingredients.

Digestive Enzymes are designed to support maximum digestive activity for a full range of foods, including proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and fiber. A full-spectrum, professional-strength product helps ensure we have all the enzymes in a single product at the strength we need to digest all types of food.

Dr. Tennant’s Digestive Enzymes Formula is designed to work under a wide range of pH conditions. Varied pH conditions occur normally in the digestive tract. Digestive Enzymes Formula works in all pH conditions to help start the digestive process earlier so food is more completely digested. Undigested or partially digested food particles can create health problems over time.

Dr. Tennant’s Digestive Enzymes Formula has special enzymatic ingredients that target difficult to digest foods such as gluten, dairy, grains, nuts and seeds, sugars, beans, and broccoli. It provides support for these difficult to digest foods with its Digestion Resistant Protease Enzyme Blend.

What are digestive enzymes?

Enzymes are the “Biochemical Activity Assistants” of the body that aid cells all over the body in various ways such as chemical reactions, metabolism, digestion, immune response, and many other cellular processes. Without enzymes, life-sustaining processes would slow considerably and even stop.

Digestive enzymes specifically help assist in breaking down food.

Food is composed of protein, fat, carbohydrate, and fiber. Enzymes break down each of these into progressively smaller components until they reach their basic building block form that can be used by the body. The body uses these building blocks to rebuild and heal itself, supply energy, and remove toxins.

Why should I take a digestive enzyme supplement?

Supplementation with enzymes replaces those lost in cooking and enhances the enzymes found in raw foods.

Naturally occurring food enzymes and supplemental enzymes begin the process of digestion earlier in the digestive tract and improve the chances of food being more fully digested.

Why is healthy digestion important?

Health is determined by what our bodies can actually digest and utilize from our foods, not just what we ingest. Nutrients are the building blocks of a healthy body, and are needed to build, repair, and maintain our various systems.

The digestive tract doesn’t only provide nutrients, it also is the body’s first line of defense against toxins and disease-causing microorganisms. Therefore, it is imperative to protect and maintain this system.

When digestive enzymes are present and doing their job, and digestion is working better, patients should experience and report the following benefits:

  • less embarrassing gas

  • less bloating

  • less constipation

  • less sensitivity to dairy and grains

  • less diarrhea and firmer stools

  • more regular bowel habits

  • fewer odorous bowel movements

  • more normal stools

  • better overall digestion with less discomfort

What are the different types of enzymes?

  1. PROTEINS – AMINO ACIDS

Proteases are enzymes that break down protein into progressively smaller units. Eventually, protein is broken down into amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins.

Dr. Tennant’s Digestive Enzymes Formula contains protease enzymes that are effective in a wide pH range and even include powerful proteases that address difficult to digest proteins, such as gluten and casein.

  1. CARBOHYDRATES – SUGARS AND STARCHES

Carbohydrases, such as amylase, lactase, and invertase, are enzymes that break down carbohydrates and starches. An incomplete breakdown of carbohydrate-containing foods causes intestinal gas (flatulence), painful cramping, and bloating.

  1. CELLULASES AND OTHER FIBER ENZYMES

These help to break down high-fiber foods. The cellulase enzyme is not naturally produced in the body and, as a result, it must be supplemented orally.

  1. FATS – FATTY ACIDS

Lipases are enzymes that break down fats and oils. Long-term malabsorption of fat caused by a deficiency of the lipase enzyme results in a deficiency of fatty acids the body needs. Additionally, many vitamins and other nutrients are better absorbed along with fats.

Enzymes are substances that make life possible – the key to unlocking good health and vitality. Without enzymes, our bodies would not be able to harvest the nutrients from the foods we eat. They are the manual workers that help build and repair the body from proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.
